LIGHTNING ARRESTER:
The large spark accompanied by the light produced by an abrupt, discontinuous,
discharge of electricity through the air, under turbulent conditions of
atmosphere is called lighting. This lighting is arrested by fixing lightning
arrester on the top of the buildings and Horn gap arrester in the distribution
system.
SURGE SUPPRESSOR:
Suppressor
comprises of capacitor 0.1 in series with the resistance of 100 Ohms. The RC
surge suppressor connected phases to ground. The voltage surges of steep wave
front are modified by the surge suppressor. The steepness of wave front reduces
as a capacitance gets charged by the wave.
